Iron Man Week Banner

We are still playing catch up on our Iron Man week posts, and today I’m bringing another Iron Will post. This time we’ll take a look at the ‘World’s Most Wanted’ arc of Matt Fraction’s Invincible Iron Man. Check out the full story after the jump!

This scene occurs as Tony is making last minute adjustments before Osborn takes over as the head of the nation’s security. Tony has a great scene here with Pepper as explains what exactly is going on with her body and the changes the Repuslor is making to her body and then an even better admittance from Tony about how much he really cares about Pepper.

One of the funnier bits from the start of the arc before things started to hit the fan. I liked the fact that Fraction got the lighter moments done at the beginning of the series so we could really see the shift in tone as the story progressed. Plus, the banter between Maria Hill and Tony is just as good as the back and forth between Tony and Pepper.

The way the story plays out from the three different narratives of Maria, Tony, and Pepper has they all head off to do their different goals. With each one of these actions, our characters move further into Norman’s Most Wanted list and their lives really begin to change. They literally can’t turn back, and these actions really propel the story forward in a exciting way.

Oh Tony. You lovable SOB. However, I like how he’s genuinely sorry about it.

Who’s Happy? One of the greatest lines from the series. Again, it’s moments like this that help to convey the gravity of the situation Tony and company find themselves in throughout World’s Most Wanted.

Of course, Norman sends Madame Masque to hunt down Tony considering her past with him. In this scene, Masque is finally pulling the trigger on her end of the deal to eliminate Stark. The line Masque states is from The Mountain Goats song, “No Children” and is perfect for this scene.

Aw yeah, Pepper Potts! I love how she takes charge her, and gets to save the day. Such a great bit for the character of Pepper.

Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce to you, Pepper Potts.

I really just liked the composition of this scene, from the way that it’s drawn, to even the placement of the sound effects to the placement of the word balloons.

Osborn practicing how he’s going to say Tony’s name. Priceless. I’d love to see Fraction write Norman again.

Selected panels from Tony and Norman’s fight. Basically, Tony is so brain dead that he literally can’t fight back at first, and Norman just goes to town on him. However, Pepper made a point of calling in the press, so they’re video-taping the whole event. This just stops Norman from murdering Stark.

‘Who the hell is ‘Doctor Donald Blake’?” Literally a near perfect ending for World’s Most Wanted and a great way to start Stark: Disassembled.

What did you think of these moments, and World’s Most Wanted as a whole? Sound off in our comments!
