The first “Green Lantern” film doesn’t even come out until next June, but news on on “Green Lantern 2″ is already being released. Earlier this summer, news broke that the screenwriting team for the first “Green Lantern” film had already signed a deal to write treatments for both a “Green Lantern 2″ as well as “The Flash”.

The latest rumor from Collider Magazine seems to confirm that the screenwriting trio have already moved into the early planning stages for “The Flash” movie. When questioned by Collider as to when “The Flash” would be happening, Berlanti replied:

“We’re just getting into the script. We’re just starting the script, so that’s about where we’re at.”

Berlanti also talked about laying the ground work for a possible”Green Lantern” sequel during the scripting of the first movie:

“We actually treated “Green Lantern” a lot like the first year of a series,” related Berlanti. “When we did the first movie, just because we did want to lay stuff out, to deal with the mythology in that way. Writing for series helped us in that, in terms of thinking about stuff as just the beginning, but also part of a chapter, as much as anything else.”

To throw my opinion out there, since Ryan Reynolds is already playing Green Lantern and Deadpool, I’d love to see Neil Patrick Harris take on the role of The Flash. He already voiced the role in “Justice League: The New Frontier” as the Barry Allen version of The Flash, but I think he could take on a live action version of the character as well. What do you think?
