2011_1_23_wwtvIn a surprising decision, NBC has ordered a pilot for David E. Kelley‘s Wonder Woman television series after the network and several others passed on the series in early January. Bob Greenblatt, newly appointed NBC President decided to pick up the show after Harry’s Law, Kelley’s new NBC show, premiered with promising numbers. “I had a lot of fun writing it, and I’m still optimistic we’ll do it,” Kelley said to Deadline Hollywood earlier this month at the Television Critics Association press tour. “It’s a very complicated piece, which is the most fun thing about it.”

The new take will see Diana Prince as a modern, successful, Los Angeles-based, crime fighter who is working to balance all the different aspects of her life. This isn’t Wonder Woman’s foray into the world of television, as many will remember the highly successful Lynda Carter WW series that aired in 1970s. David E. Kelley is famous for such legal dramas as The Practice and Boston Legal.

What do you think about a David E. Kelley penned Wondy TV show that will air on NBC?
