After several years of development, the television adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming‘s Powers will finally go to pilot at FX. The Eisner award-winning series focuses on two police officers that handle cases involving those with superpowers. The pilot will be written by Charles H. Eglee with Michael Dinner set to direct. Dinner was an executive producer on AMC’s The Walking Dead and Eglee was an executive producer on The Shield.
Slashfilm also has a report that Battlestar Galactica star Katee Sackhoff is very interested in starring in the show. After a fan tweeted at Sackhoff about Bendis wanting the actress to play the one of the lead roles, Deena Pilgrim. Sackhoff responded saying:
already met on #powers last year! I love it! I’ve just been waiting for a green light to go after it!
Powers is one of the few Bendis books that I haven’t read. However, I’m excited about the creative talent involved and I’ll be even more excited if Sackhoff ends up joining the cast. I know Bendis writes great female characters and Sackhoff is an amazing actress perfectly suited for strong female roles.
