With four trailers debuting their biggest projects, Legendary Comics (a division of Legendary Pictures) has officially grabbed the attention of comic fans everywhere. With an Editor-In-Chief that’s worked at Oni, DC, and IDW, Bob Schreck has got a bit of a magic touch to bring to the start-up table. Legendary Comics has plans of publishing four to six graphic novels a year, both print and digital. There are hopes the loyal fandom of Legendary Pictures will transfer to the comic book world and we’ve got more information about the first comic from Legendary after the break.
The first trailer belonged to Frank Miller’s Holy Terror, a project that began as Holy Terror, Batman! for DC Comics until Miller caught word the publishers were “weary of the politically charged concept.” Deciding he had taken Batman as far as he could go and forgetting DC, Miller created a new hero for the new line. Named ‘The Fixer,’ he’ll work to take down those responsible for the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Speaking to the LA Times, Miller had this to say about the character:
“He’s been trained as special ops and when his city is attacked all of a sudden all the pieces fall into place and all this training comes into play. He’s been out there fighting crime without really having his heart in it — he does it to keep in shape. He’s very different than Batman in that he’s not a tortured soul. He’s a much more well-adjusted creature even though he happens to shoot 100 people in the course of the story…The Fixer has also become his own character in a way I’ve really enjoyed. No one will read this and think, ‘Where’s Batman?‘”
Holy Terror is scheduled to release in September for the 10th anniversary of the attacks, but you can see the first five pages on Legendary’s website. We’ve also included the trailer below.
