AMC has your first look at at the full length trailer for the TV adaption of Robert Kirkman’s “The Walking Dead”. The show will premiere on Halloween at 10 PM EST and will be a 90 minute long episode. I had the chance to check out the trailer at Comic-Con and was very impressed. Check it out below!!

Today, Dynamite Entertainment announced that the wonderfully talented Eric Trautmann will be the new writer on Vampirella.  The relaunch will occur this November with a brand new #1 and a cover from J. Scott Campbell. Here’s some early plot details from the Press Release that Comic Book Resources received this morning:

Vampirella’s back and is hot on the trail of her nemesis, Vlad Dracula. It’s a darker world for Vampirella, and something even more sinister than vampires lurks in the shadows, something that even Dracula himself has cause to fear. Vampirella is all that stands between us . . . . . . .and the end of the world!

Trautmann had this to say about his upcoming run:

“There’s a long roster of talented creators – Forrest Ackerman, Archie Goodwin, Kurt Busiek, Warren Ellis, James Robinson, Grant Morrison to name just a few – have cast a long shadow over Vampirella. It’s an honor to be able to add to that long, rich history, and add some of my own peculiar brand of weirdness to it all. I think people will be really surprised by Wagner’s work; he brings a real sense of realism and danger to the page, and manages to create a sexy, intelligent, dangerous Vampirella. Dynamite has been very welcoming, and the experience of working with them has been tremendous fun, and hopefully that translates to the printed page.”

I found it VERY interesting that some of the biggest names in the industry have written Vampirella at one point or another. Hopefully this is another home run for Eric and for artist Wagner Reis. I know I’ll be reading, and I hope you’ll be too. Here’s the beautiful J. Scott Campbell cover:

Today I was browsing through the site, and my eyes became fixed upon a post tracking Marvel’s teaser character images for a new “Man Without Fear.” Upon noticing some similarities between a few of the images, I compiled the character posters together.

This reveals a giant poster with one space missing. The Daredevil emblem can clearly be seen outlined by the surrounding posters. So what could this mean? And what are Marvel’s aims in this campaign? Who do you believe will be the new “Man Without Fear”? Air your thoughts in the comments!

When Scott Snyder said on Twitter that he was excited for his artist on Detective Comics, he certainly had reason to be thrilled. DC announced this morning that Jock will be the new artist on Snyder’s Detective Comics run, which starts this November. Snyder had this to say about Jock joining the creative team:

“I could not be more excited about working with Jock. Over the last couple months, I’ve spoken to some artists whose work I love, but Jock was always my top choice for this run on Detective Comics. I’ve been a huge fan of his work for a long time. His style is bold and dynamic – perfect for the kind of big, twisted Batman story we’re going to tell together”

I couldn’t be more excited for this, as Jock is one of my favorite artists, and Scott has done an outstanding job on American Vampire. This upcoming run on Detective Comics has now turned into one of my most anticipated books of the year. I can’t wait to see what they have planned for us come November. During Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con panels, the company showed off several images teasing a new hero taking over Matt Murdock’s role as “The Man Without Fear’ aka Daredevil. Today, Marvel began to post these teasers, and will continue to do so all throughout the week. Nova is the subject of today’s teaser and was released with only the following comment:

WHO WILL BE THE NEW MAN WITHOUT FEAR?

UPDATE: On Tuesday, Marvel released another teaser, this time focusing on the infamous X-Men team member: Gambit.

UPDATE: Wednesday’s teaser is The Black Panther. What’s the legendary Wakandan king want with Hell’s Kitchen?

Thursday’s image is Falcon. I believe that out of all the choices so far, this is the most likely candidate.

The fifth and final image is of Kraven the Hunter.

Marvel released a brand new image this morning, teasing what seems to be a possible cross-over event between Jeff Parker’s Thunderbolts team and Brian Michael Bendis’ The Avengers team.  The teaser has Thor fighting Juggernaut, Iron Man battling Ghost, and Steve Rogers clashing with the man responsible for killing him; Crossbones. We’ll keep you updated as we get information, but enjoy the art below:

This afternoon, io9 posted the first official cast image from AMC’s adaptation of ‘The Walking Dead’ from comic to TV show. The cast looks outstanding and I can’t wait to see what next week’s cover at San Diego Comic-Con brings. What do you think? Sound off below!!

DC Exclusive artist David Finch has been a part of some substantial work since he left Marvel for DC, including doing covers for Action Comics and Brightest Day.  However, today is a huge day for Mr. Finch, as DC’s The Source blog announced this morning that he’ll be the writer AND artist for a brand new Batman book starting this fall. In November, Finch will launch ‘Batman: The Dark Knight‘, a brand new on-going series. Before that, Finch will team with Grant Morrison for a special one-shot in October titled, ‘Batman: The Return’.  Here’s what Finch had to say about this exciting news:

The Dark Knight takes Batman outside what he knows, into a world of demonology, dark arts, and mystery. He’s the ultimate detective, faster, stronger and smarter than any villian, but now he faces creatures to whom logic and mortality don’t apply.

I want Dark Knight to be true to Batman’s street level, crime fighter roots. He’ll face a rogues gallery that we’re all familiar with, but this book will take him on a darker path where he’ll be stretched to his physical and psychological limits

David Finch now joins Tony Daniel as the second Batman related artist to not only draw, but write an on-going Batman series.  I like Finch’s art, but we’ll have to see how he does on writing duties. This is certainly an interesting move on DC’s part, and it will be interesting to see if the trend expands outside the Batman universe. Hit the jump for the first sketch from the book!

Fans of DC Comics and Vertigo Comics have been clamoring for more of a crossover between the two companies, and this fall their wishes will be granted.  In October’s Action Comics #894, Neil Gaiman’s beloved character ,Death, will appear in the DC Universe. Gaiman’s Sandman is a comic that has constantly been recommended to me, and the series is considered to be one of the most influential comics of all time. The Source blog asked Action Comics writer Paul Cornell about this legendary cross over and he responded with the following:

“Death appearing in Action Comics was my own mad idea, the extreme case of putting Luthor up against characters he’s not used to dealing with.

“I’m very pleased that, after I ran the idea by him, Neil Gaiman approved me using Death in this issue. He’s been very supportive. It’s so interesting to see her back in the DC Universe. Though Vertigo readers can rest assured that the character, and the way she’s used, will be true to the spirit of what has gone before.”

However, this quote from the Comic Book Resources interview with Cornell is quite hilarious:

My wife said when I first got the book, “Well, at least they can’t cancel ‘Action Comics.’” [Laughter]

I’m a huge Cornell fan, and if Gaiman has given his approval, then it sounds like Death is in more than capable hands. We’ll find out for sure this October.  Hit the jump for the full cover image!

The year 2010 has certainly been a year for comic book movies, from ‘Kick-Ass’ to The Losers’, and the tradition looks to continue with the release of ‘Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World’. Director Edgar Wright has chosen an amazing cast to pull of this great comic series, and as we see from this new poster, they are staying faithful to the characters. Now all we can do is wait for it’s release on August 13th!
