Sketchbook: Phil Noto

Phil Noto has always done amazing work, but I’ve been paying closer attention to him recently. Noto is drawing some great stuff and posting it on his Tumblr. We’ve provided just a sampling, but we encourage you to check out his other work. Hit the jump for some of our favorites!

Sketchbook: The Incredible Justice League

This week’s incredible Sketchbook entry comes courtesy of Karl Savage. Originally spotlighted on Project Rooftop, Savage envisioned the Justice League as members of Disney’s The Incredibles and I think the results are brilliant. We’ve got the full gallery after the break. Check them out!

Sketchbook: Thor Meets ‘The Social Network’

On the episodes of Beyond the Panels that Dane and I have done, we’ve talked at length about our love for David Fincher‘s The Social Network. So when Marvel’s very own Agent M posted this variant cover from the upcoming Thor Goes Hollywood series of variant covers, I knew that I not only had to get this cover, but I also had to share it with you all. The Iron Man 2.0 #4 variant cover will hit your local comic book store on April 20th and is done by Loki artist Sebastian Fiumara, Rich Ginter and Irene Lee.

Sketchbook: Noah Salonga on Red Sonja #56

Much like the last artist we spotlighted in Sketchbook, we’re huge fans of Eric Trautmann and all of his writing work. This afternoon, Eric tweeted Noah Salonga‘s opening pencils for Red Sonja #56. The page maybe looks to be a recap page of sorts, but is absolutely stunning. We’ve included the piece in all its glory after the break and we highly encourage you to check it out.

Sketchbook: Marco Rudy on Superboy #6

Sketchbook

Welcome to the first installment of Sketchbook, where we’ll highlight comic book art that is worth your attention. If you’ve been listening to the podcast, we’ve made it pretty clear about how we feel about Marco Rudy‘s art. Dane and I have been huge fans of everything he does and this year looks to be a real breakout year for the artist. Over the past couple of weeks, Rudy has been posting pages from his upcoming gig on Jeff Lemire‘s Superboy, which will continue the Reign of Doomsday story. If we haven’t convinced you of Rudy’s brillance, take a look at the images we snagged from his DeviantArt page and included for you after the break.
