Locke & Key to Head to MTV?

Much like showrunner Josh Friedman’s last show, Locke & Key just refuses to give up. According to a report from Deadline tonight, MTV is interested in picking up the show after its failure to be picked up by Fox for the fall season. The Mark Romanek directed pilot has been since shopped around to various other networks, including Syfy, but all eventually passed on the project. However, a screener DVD of the pilot was delivered to MTV’s chief of programming, who is reportedly very interested in the project. No actual negotiations between MTV and the executive staff have occurred.

After seeing the pilot at SDCC this year, I know Dane was vastly disappointed the show didn’t go to series, but it know looks like there could be a second chance for it to live on. Much like Deadline writes in the article, I am concerned about the potential budget for the show, as it seemed to a major reason why it didn’t get picked up by Syfy. What do you think? Are you excited hear there’s a chance the show could live on?

We never got around to posting the trailer for the series, so here it is for you to check out for the first time or to watch over again.

First Official Locke & Key Image

It’s very easy to get caught up in the excitement of a costume change, but I have a feeling it’s not going to be easy to forget about Fox’s upcoming adaptation of Joe Hill and Gabriel RodriguezLocke & Key. As part of their Pilot Season preview, USA Today got the following image of the main cast. From left to right we have Sarah Bolger, Miranda Otto, Jesse McCartney and Skylar Gaertner.

The pilot was written by Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles creator Josh Friedman and is directed by Mark Romanek who directed Never Let Me Go and One Hour Photo. I’m a huge fan of Friedman and Romanek is a criminally underrated director. His visual style is perfectly suited for something as creepy as Locke & Key. We’ll have more for you as we get it, but what do you think about this picture?
