I’m looking forward to the release of the Deadpool film immensely, Ryan Reynolds was great as Wade Wilson and I can’t wait to see him take on the role again.

The home of tech/geek/video game shows like Attack Of The Show and X-Play, G4 has acquired four anime-themed programs based on the Marvel properties X-Men, Blade, Iron Man and Wolverine.  Each series will have twelve 30 minute episodes that will begin airing sometime next year.

Executive Vice President and Head of Television at Marvel Entertainment Jeph Loeb says:

“Bringing Marvel and our characters to G4 is such an awesome opportunity. The size and scope of the animation from top-flight studios Madhouse and Sony is nothing short of mind-blowing. We look forward to the start of a beautiful friendship and can’t wait to see the reaction from our worldwide fan-base.”

I, for one, am proud of G4 for landing such a good deal.  I am also excited for the future of comic characters from Marvel and DC alike simply because they are showing up all over television and movies!

At Comic-Con last Saturday night, the entire ensemble cast of Marvel Studios’ “The Avengers” was finally confirmed. Here’s a list of the mind-blowing ensemble cast:

• Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury
• Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow
• Clark Gregg as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson
• Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man
• Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America
• Chris Hemmsworth as Thor
• Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye
• Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk

The Avengers Assembled

This amazing cast will be directed by Geek God, Joss Whedon. For the past week or so it had been rumored that Ruffalo might play Bruce Banner, it was only with this announcement (and with an official endorsement from Robert Downey, Jr.) that we know for sure. In my opinion, Mark Ruffalo will do an outstanding job as Bruce Banner/Hulk. Much like everyone else, I would have liked to see Marvel Studios keep continuity and continue on with Edward Norton, but let’s just move on.

I can honestly say after being in the room with that full cast in attendance, my excitement for the film increased tenfold.

Bendis on The Avengers – ‘It’s the gathering of the greatest Heroes that ever lived . . . and Spider-Woman. We have some surprises coming up later on in the presentation.’ Major magic event going on in The New Avengers and not everyone wil make it out alive.

Matt Fraction has a pretty good Ed Brubaker impression.

‘This is my dream come true.’ – Jim McCann on Hawkeye and Mockingbird. ‘We’re building up their rogues gallery.’

Upcoming stuff:

The Trial of Captain America – ‘The world will know that Captain America is Bucky Barnes, and he’ll have to pay for his sins as the Winter Solider.’

Widow Maker – Spies over the world are being taken out all over the world by the new Ronin. Will effect theses characters for the next two years.

Issue #4 Avengers art. Bendis drops the f-bomb. It’s a great piece of art with Bendis teasing that the timestream splitting apart.

Red Hulk will join the Avengers on Issue #7.

Who is the new Man Without Fear? Falcon, Nova, and Gambit are teased. Post Shadowland there will be a new Daredevil.

Question and Answer time. I’m running out of battery so I don’t know how long I’ll be able to post for, but I’ll try and post the best of the Q+A segements.

What’s in store for Ultimate Spider-Man? Issue #16 is the #150 issue of Spider-Man and the 10th year of the Ultimate universe. This issue will ‘put Peter in a very different place’ according to Bendis.

Ed Brubaker has big plans for Steve Rogers and Bucky.

Bendis is calling Brubaker asking him for what’s in store for Captain America – doesn’t really work very well, but still hilarious.

Brand New Day question – at what point did you release that this was a success or failure, etc? ‘Were it really started to play off was when the cast started to play together well, that’s what we wanted, we wanted this canon of people in Peter’s life to be interesting.’

‘We have some very cool things planned for the Cosmic [Marvel] universe.’

Spider-Man will pop up in Invincible Iron Man at the end of the current arc. Considering how strong the first meeting of these two were, I’m very excited for this.

What’s coming up with Iron Man? ‘We’ll see how resilient Tony can be, and it’s all leading up to the biggest action set piece I’ve done.’ War Machine, Iron Man and Rescue will be in action together.

Digital is a ‘brand new world’ for Marvel. ‘We are learning, and you are helping us to learn. Every once in a while you’ll see a day and date release. We take all your feedback on this digital stuff very seriously.’

What is Fraction’s story on Thor? ‘It’s very Kirby inspired. It’s much more born at the end of Kirby’s run. It’s very spacey and future-y. It’s big and cosmic and heavy and in a different direction.’ Won’t see Beta Ray Bill right away in Thor, but he’ll show up soon.

‘Spider-Man is the heart of the Marvel Universe. He represents more than just themselves [The Avengers].’ – Bendis on why Spider-Man is an Avenger.

Howdy folks! Our coverage of the DC Nation: Event Horizon panel will be starting soon. Hopefully we’ll get some good announcements from today’s panel! Appearing at today’s panel are Dan DiDio, Jim Lee, J. Michael Straczynski, Grant Morrison, and Geoff Johns. Hit the jump for our full recap!

Dan DiDio just showed up. There isn’t anyone here yet with the exception of JMS.

DiDio has something for us. I’m guessing it’s the Blue Beetle reel and it is!!

Footage won’t play with sound, fan says ‘It worked for Geoff Johns’. DiDio responds with ‘Everything works for Geoff Johns.’

Wow. This is pretty awesome. I’m VERY impressed. Those photos don’t do the reel justice.

Johns and Morrison are now headed up on stage after showing up a little late.

DiDio brings Darksied on stage to sit next to Morrison. Grant states that if anyone sees any glowing beams to let him know.

DiDio asks about reaction to new Wonder Woman change and the fan response is lukewarm and DiDio brings a woman dressed as the new Wonder Woman on stage and then DiDio asks fans what they want to see from the new direction on the Wonder Woman series.

‘If those of that aren’t sure on the new costume, give me two issues.’ – JMS. WW is ‘working towards a goal’. JMS wants to add new villains to WW’s rouges gallery. Bringing in lots of Greek Mythology.

And now Jim Lee is on stage. DiDio is now transitioning to Green Lantern. DiDio wants a Green Lantern on stage and grabs a female green lantern. She sits next to JMS and Johns. JMS says ‘I’ve had dreams like this.’ Johns says he wants to a Valentine’s Day special with Dex-Starr and he says he’s not kidding. References Agent Orange Holiday story. JMS wants to do a tribute issue for Lex Luthor story that is completely run by Lex himself.

LOTS of love for Morrison’s Batman run. Grant says he loves the Joel Schumacher Batman. Makes fun of Schumacher’s Alfred and the weirdness of the rubber outfits, specifically the ‘I took the liberty sir’ line in Batman: Forever. Morrison talks about all the changes coming in Batman, INC. Will be a team up between Sliver age Kathy Kane aka the first Batwoman and Batman, will be very much like Brave and the Bold. Sounds GREAT.

In Batman: The Return we’ll see Damien and Bruce work together. Grant likes making new characters to play with, so we’ll see plenty of new villains.

Now on to Superman. ‘There will be problems he’ll come across that he can’t solve easily.”

On to Flash, which will hopefully bring  some Flashpoint news. Johns says that there’s a huge cast of characters that he wants to play with, has tons of plans for the Flash family. ‘It’s a building process and I want to build it bigger.’ And now it’s Q and A time.

Looking at the Brightest Day teaser now. Johns doesn’t really give any details on the teaser. Carol Ferris will learn about ‘The Predator’ very soon in Green Lantern #57.

Update on Batman Earth-One, won’t be about a Batman that’s good at his job. He’s learning to become Batman. As far as Who’s Who, we’ll see that next year.

‘With these four [JMS, Grant Morrison, Geoff Johns, Jim Lee] the characters [of the DC Universe] have never been in better hands.’ – DiDio.

Johns and Morrison are working on a project together for next year and that’s all they’ll say. Also, Morrison does a GREAT New Jersey voice.

Anything in the works for Young Justice? Other than the TV show, they’ll be reprinting old Young Justice material. JMS on Brave and the Brave – ‘Jor-El and Pa Kent, Phantom Stranger and Supergirl.’  Oil Spill scene in Brightest Day was written due to the BP Oil Spill.

And…I don’t know how to explain what just happened. DiDio just got a baby DiDio?! Yeah I’ve no idea.

What happened to the Wally West co-feature? ‘I promise you’ll see Wally West stuff soon. He won’t be a co-feature.’ Johns has a good John Stewart storyline, but he’s got it tucked away for now.

Flashpoint – It will be a big Flash story but Johns can’t talk about it right now.

DiDio hinted about Justice League book that may involve Jim Lee. What made JMS ground Superman? ‘That’s just a good way for him to interact with everyone. He’s an everyman. He needed to be around ordinary folks.”

Cassandra Cain will be seen outside of Comics in something Johns is working on. INTERESTING.

Second Flash book called Flash: Speed Force that will be about all the other speedesters, but will mainly focus on Wally West. Flash movie? ‘We’re developing something and that’s all I can say’ said Johns.

Cameron Stewart and Frank Quietly on Multiversity. Grant Morrison said Bleeding Cool was wrong and he won’t be announcing 10 artist for that book at San Diego this week.

More plans for Batman Beyond outside of comics.

What’s going on with Spider-Girl? May Parker’s story is done for now.

Marvel will be showing the pilot on Friday for Iron Man: Anime on Friday night at 8:15. Based on designs from Warren Ellis.

Is DC’s animation pressuring Marvel to do better? Loeb says to come to the Marvel Animation panel this week.

Marvel is making Superman: Grounded jokes.

Another Marvel vs DC book? Loeb: happens on the Internet every day. C.B. says yes, and asks the fan to ask the same question at DC and see what they say.

Marvel wants to make sure they make a quality TV series and take their time with it.

All the writers are respectful to each other and their characters and that reflects in their comics.

Want those last four issues of The Twelve? Ask JMS, not Marvel.

On choosing where to place various Avengers after Siege, they all got together and put together wish lists. ‘It’s like choosing people for a baseball team’ said Bendis
