Paramount Pictures has released a shorter version of The Avengers trailer that runs in theaters after the Captain America credits. While the full trailer contains more footage from the Joss Whedon helmed superhero team-up, this teaser does give us our first chance to get a real good look at Captain America and Thor’s new costumes. We also catch quick glimses of Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner and Jeremy Renner‘s Hawkeye. So what are you waiting for? Check out the trailer and screenshots after the break!

Lego made a huge license acquisition this evening, as BleedingCool reports that the company will produce sets for both Marvel and DC next year. The Marvel figures, including Iron Man, The Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Loki and Black Widow, will launch next May in time for The Avengers. On the DC side of things, January 2012 will see the release of the DC Universe Super Heroes collection which includes; Batman, Robin, Catwoman, The Joker, The Riddler, Two-Face, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Bane, Bruce Wayne, Superman, Lex Luthor, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman.

For those of you at Comic-Con this week, Lego will be giving away an exclusive Green Lantern or Batman minifigure at their booth. For those that can’t attend, we’ve included the packaging below.

Marvel also confirmed that Tom Hiddleston and Stellan Skarsgård will return playing their respective roles from Thor. The movie will begin production in Albuquerque, New Mexico before moving to Cleveland, Ohio and New York City.

As production continues, we’ll hopefully have more images, but I’m more than content with this teaser image. We’ll have more news for you as the Avengers continue to assemble.

Marvel announced their plans to shake up the Captain America family of books just before Steve Rogers has his sliver screen debut. Eisner award-winning writer Ed Brubaker will team with artist Steve McNiven for a brand new series that sees Steve Rogers returning to the role that the super-solider was made for. Brubaker says the series will a great jumping on point for new and old readers alike and will feature an old enemy from Cap’s past returning to hunt him down. Captain America #1 will launch in July and will have covers by McNiven, Olivier Coipel, and Neal Adams.

As for the old Captain America book, that title changes to Captain America and Bucky and will continue it’s ongoing numbering. This time, Brubaker will be joined by Marc Andreyko as the co-writer for the book with Chris Samnee on art duties. The book will tie-in to what’s going on in Captain America, Fear Itself and will set something up for the future, all while focusing on the relationship between Bucky and Steve.

After the break, we’ve included the covers for both new series. With the upcoming release of Captain America: The First Avenger, this title shuffling isn’t too surprising. What do you think about these changes to everyone’s favorite Sentinel of Liberty?

Legendary actor Samuel L. Jackson was on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon this evening and talked about his role as Nick Fury in Thor, Captain America and The Avengers. Most of what Jackson talked about information we already knew about, but he revealed some details about a screen test he has to sit in on at the end of the week. I’m going to post the quote after the break for those looking to avoid spoilers about Avengers.

Jackson said the screen test was for several actresses that will play Nick Fury‘s sidekick.I feel confident that this character will be Maria Hill, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and future S.H.I.E.L.D. Director. Hill has been an essential part of the Marvel universe over the past couple of years and would I’d be remiss if she didn’t play a part in Whedon’s Avengers.

Jackson also stated that he has yet to film his appearance in both Thor and Captain America.

We’ll have the full interview when it’s posted on Fallon’s site tomorrow, but what do you think about the possibility of Maria Hill coming to the big screen and more importantly, who do you want to play her?
