On the heels of an Entertainment Tonight spot later on today, Marvel has released a new image from Captain America: The First Avenger. Found by Comic Book Resources’ Spinoff Online, Marvel placed this new image in the solicits for Fred Van Lente and Luke Ross‘ Captain America: First Vengeance, which serves as the official prequel to the movie. We’ve included the full image and solicatation information after the jump.

Here’s the image that Marvel provided, which gives us another nice full look at Cap’s WWII-influenced uniform.

The Super Bowl XLV tv spot for Cowboys & Aliens is now online and features plenty of sci-fi/western action. Based on Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, Fred Van Lente, Andrew Foley and Luciano Lima‘s comic of the same name, Cowboys & Aliens is directed by Jon Favreau and stars Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde and Sam Rockwell. The film will be released this Summer. We’ve included the 30-second spot after the break for those looking avoid spoilers.

On last night’s edition of G4TV’s ‘Fresh Ink’ host Blair Butler announced the return of Hercules to lead a new team of heroes in an event called ‘Chaos War’. The event is a five issue mini series written by the long running creative team of Fred Van Lente, Greg Pak, with art by Khoi Pham. The event starts this October.

The event will focus on an attack on Earth by the Chaos King and his army of alien slave gods.  Hercules will lead a team of gods and cosmic beings consisting of Thor, Galactus (!), Sersi, Silver Surfer, and Venus.  It’s also worth noting that Amadeus Cho appears in some of the preview art.  Butler also stated that the Incredible Hulk will unite the “the surviving members’ of his family to combat this new threat.

This story seems like it will play off some of the events that occurred the ‘Scared Invasion’ story line that happened early on in Pak and Van Lente’s Incredible Hercules series.  I’m just so incredibly happy that I’ll get to see the return of one of my favorite Marvel characters.
