20th Century Fox has released two new character posters from the upcoming release of X-Men: First Class. The posters feature James McAvoy as Charles and Michael Fassbender as Erik. Also, Empire has an exclusive photo which sees Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon) and Emma Frost (January Jones) in a very blue room, presumably planning their next move.

X-Men: First Class is directed by Matthew Vaughn and is set for a June 3, 2011 release and continues to peak my interest with every new detail that’s released. We’ve placed all the images after the break.

The first official footage for X-Men: First Class is now online. X-Men: First Class is a prequel to the current X-Men trilogy, taking place before the falling out between Magneto and Professor Xavier. The film, directed by Matthew Vaughn, will hit theaters June 3rd and stars Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, January Jones, Jason Flemyng, Nicholas Hoult, Lucas Till , Zoë Kravitz, Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy and Kevin Bacon. We’ve included the full High Definition trailer after the break for those looking to avoid spoilers.

It’s back, after being pulled down yesterday MSN has a new higher resolution look at the cast of X-Men: First Class. Not to be outdone, The Los Angeles Times has three new pictures to accompany their set visit article (recommended) that includes our first look at Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw. The above image features the X-Men dressed in classic X-Men colors and shows (from left to right) Michael Fassbender (Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto), Rose Byrne (Dr. Moira MacTaggert), January Jones (Emma Frost), Jason Flemyng (Azazel), Nicholas Hoult (Hank McCoy / Beast), Lucas Till (Alex Summers / Havok), Zoë Kravitz (Angel Salvadore), Jennifer Lawrence (Raven Darkholme / Mystique) and James McAvoy (Professor Charles Xavier). In an interesting turn of events, Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Mad Men star and Emmy nominated actress January Jones has taken over the role of Emma Frost in Matthew Vaughn’s “X-Men: First Class”. When we last reported on this, actress Alice Eve had apparently gotten the role of the infamous White Queen, but this exclusive report from Deadline seems to confirm otherwise, saying:

While speculative reports had Alice Eve playing that role, no deal was concluded.

This has me incredibly excited! I thought that Eve was a good fit for the role, but as an avid “Mad Men” watcher, I can confidently say that January Jones can NAIL the cold tone that Emma needs. The report also states that Zoe Kravitz will play Angel and Jason Flemyng will play Nightcrawler’s father, Azazel.

“X-Men: First Class” also stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Caleb Landry Jones, Lucas Till, Edi Gathegi, Kevin Bacon, Rose Byrne, and Oliver Platt. The movie is due out next summer and starts production in London in just a few weeks, on August 23.
