SHIELD Helicarrier Concept Art Leaked

The above concept art offers your first look at what the movie version of the famed SHIELD Helicarrier will look like in the upcoming Avengers movie. An article from io9 reveals details that the Helicarrier was originally supposed to appear in Iron Man 2, but will see the light of day in Marvel’s Superhero epic. The site that originally leaked the designs
(Spidermedia.ru) also states that Kevin Feige wants to build one and place it on top of the San Diego Convention Center for 2011′s Comic-Con. Let’s hope that this actually occurs, but until then enjoy the concept art.

Leftovers for August 24, 2010

All these news stories look tasty don’t they? Hope you’re hungry, because we’ve got plenty of leftovers for you today!

  • DC Comics released an image yesterday that combines all the variant covers for Brightest Day into one, interlocking mural. There are plenty of details to speculate and discuss about, and I recommend Comics Alliance’s analysis of the image.
  • Slashfilm has all the information on the possibility of multiple female characters in “The Avengers” movie. Whedon did confirm that Black Widow will be the only female Avenger in the movie.
  • DC Comics unvield that Scott Kolins will be taking over art duites on JSA. You can check out some the art from his first issue on the series over at The Source blog.
  • The Vulture has an exclusive report on turning the highly successful Locke & Key comic into a Television series. There’s some major talent attached to the project, including Steven Spielberg, Fringe’s Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles‘ Josh Friedman.

Avengers Assemble!

At Comic-Con last Saturday night, the entire ensemble cast of Marvel Studios’ “The Avengers” was finally confirmed. Here’s a list of the mind-blowing ensemble cast:

  • Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury
  • Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow
  • Clark Gregg as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson
  • Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man
  • Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America
  • Chris Hemmsworth as Thor
  • Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye
  • Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk

The Avengers Assembled

This amazing cast will be directed by Geek God, Joss Whedon. For the past week or so it had been rumored that Ruffalo might play Bruce Banner, it was only with this announcement (and with an official endorsement from Robert Downey, Jr.) that we know for sure. In my opinion, Mark Ruffalo will do an outstanding job as Bruce Banner/Hulk. Much like everyone else, I would have liked to see Marvel Studios keep continuity and continue on with Edward Norton, but let’s just move on.

I can honestly say after being in the room with that full cast in attendance, my excitement for the film increased tenfold.

William was lucky enough to grab the announcement on video and I’ve embedded the video after the jump
