Cotillard, Gordon-Levitt Officially Join Dark Knight Rises

After months of speculation and rumors, Warner Bros. announced today that Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard have officially joined the cast of The Dark Knight Rises. The Inception stars will once again join director Christopher Nolan as he closes out his run on the Batman film franchise. Cotillard will play Miranda Tate, “a Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father’s philanthropic endeavors for Gotham.” Levitt’s role will be John Blake, “a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon.”

While the actors aren’t tied to the previously rumored roles of Talia al Ghul or Black Mask, there’s still a chance that Nolan could pull a fast one us during the course of the movie and have the characters become more than what seem. Both of these are new roles and aren’t tied to any previous comic book characters.

Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Josh Pence, Michael Caine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, and Nestor Carbonell. The film is set to release on July 20, 2012.

The Dark Knight Rises Casting Confirmed

This morning Warner Bros. Pictures issued a press release confirming the casting of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman and Tom Hardy as the classic Batman villain Bane (who famously broke Batman’s back in the nineties). After months of endless speculation we now have something tangible to discuss. I wouldn’t claim to be a fan of Anne Hathaway or a fan of the character of Bane but I also doubted Heath Ledger as the Joker when the casting for The Dark Knight was announced so I’m willing to trust Christopher Nolan and wait and see. What about you? Does this new casting give you cause for rejoicing or rebuke? Sound off in the comments and check out the full press release after the break.

“The Dark Knight Rises” Speculation Follow Up

At the end of October, I did a little speculation for the latest Batman movie, “The Dark Knight Rises.” Well the ideas that I had developed were based off of some news surfacing around the announcement of the planned and aforementioned title. As a quick recap: I speculated Tom Hardy to play Max Court, Joseph Gordon-Levitt or Johnny Depp to play Hugo Strange and Marion Cotillard to play Catwoman. Well as it seems I may be wrong about Cotillard playing Catwoman, as there have been another set of names surrounding the film, but it seems I may have been right with the call of Catwoman as its been announced that the actresses being looked at are in contention for either a love interest or female villain. Finally, there are more reports out that have speculation of Tom Hardy to play Hugo Strange, and as stated over on Batman News, their source stating this thought has been very reliable. So it turns out that I may have been right with this character as well, but again wrong with the actor choice. As we all know, speculation is a tricky game. Keep coming back to the site as we will keep you updated as much as we can on “The Dark Knight Rises.”
