Wonder Woman, Defeated

What’s going to take the place of Smallville?!  Now, I didn’t really think too highly of this Amazonian reboot, but it did show some sort of potential.  And, it could’ve catered to the fans who are just looking for a superhero tv show.  But alas, like a neglected baby, the Wonder Woman television series didn’t get picked up.  The Hollywood Reporter has collected the latest info on what we will and won’t be seeing on NBC next fall.  There was a lot of buzz going around about this potential series, but it seems as though a lot of it was more on the mediocre-to-negative side.  And with the peacock network being the final hope for David E. Kelleys’ interpretation on the warrior princess (her… not her), I have little hope that they can shop the pilot around to other networks and expect a positive outcome.  I guess my dreams of Adrianne Palicki and Elizabeth Hurley battling it out will have to be postponed…

By the way, is there any way we can get our pupils on that pilot? We got to see Aquaman.

New ‘Wonder Woman’ Photo Shows Changes to Costume

Now that’s more like it!  The Daily Blam got their hands on reader submitted photos showing some much needed changes to Adrianne Palicki‘s Wonder Woman costume. It’s good to know that David E. Kelley and his creative team can take criticism, as this looks significantly better than the image that was released a few weeks ago. The darkening of the pants, change in boot color, and addition of the stars are all welcome changes to the costume. Now if the pilot script can get some tweaking, this could be a show that I’m really interested in.

NBC’s Wonder Woman stars Adrianne Palicki, Elizabeth Hurley, Tracie Thoms, Pedro Pascal, Cary Elwes, Justin Bruening, and Joseph Gatt and will be executive produced by Kelley. Enjoy the in-action  photo of Palicki below and let us know what you think to these costume revisions!

Adrianne Palicki As Wonder Woman!

It matters not what I personally think of this first look at Adrianne Palicki as David E. Kelley’s Wonder Woman.  No.  What matters are your opinions, which, here at Between The Panels, we take very seriously.  So, head straight to the comments section and release your joy or anger or whatever this image from EW.com makes you feel.  And remember to look on the bright side (which happens to be everywhere).

So far, Elizabeth Hurley, Tracey Thoms and Cary Elwes have also been cast for the show.  Yes, these three get to admire (or pick on) Wonder Woman on a daily basis.  Joy.

Elizabeth Hurley Joins NBC’s ‘Wonder Woman’

Over at DC Women Kicking Ass (which I highly recommend you start reading if you haven’t already) reports this morning that actress/model Elizabeth Hurley is joining the cast of NBC and David E. Kelley‘s Wonder Woman television show. Hurley tweeted that she’ll be playing villain which DWKA believes to be Veronica Cale. Created by Greg Rucka during his Wonder Woman run, Cale is often described as the female Lex Luthor.

The Wonder Woman pilot stars Adrianne Palicki and is written by David E. Kelley and will be directed by Jeffrey Reiner.

Adrianne Palicki Cast in NBC’s ‘Wonder Woman’

The Wonder Woman television show has found its leading lady with Friday Night Lights star Adrianne Palicki. Deadline announced tonight that the actress has landed the lead role in a modern reboot of the character that will see  ’a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life.’ David E. Kelley of Ally McBeal and Boston Legal fame wrote the script and Jeffrey Reiner (The Event) will direct the pilot. Palicki won the role after being the only actress to test for it. This isn’t Palicki’s first foray into superhero TV as the actress appeared in the failed Aquaman pilot, Mercy Reef and an episode of Smallville.

Early reports make it sound like the script leaves a little to be desired, but the casting of Palicki gives me hope. Not only does she look the part, but she’s an outstanding actress and I’m certainly more interested in the show than I was before.

We’ll keep you posted on all the latests with the Wonder Woman tv show, but what are your thoughts on the casting?
